Welcome to the Bread Financial 2023 Grant Round! – Feb 17

Bread Financial is thrilled to open a competitive grant round, offering operating and program grants ranging from $20,000-$100,000.  We aim to fund innovative solutions that help low and moderate income youth and adults improve their financial health across the United States. We are committed to fostering financial wellness through education and training, access to technology, and other financial literacy tools needed to build a bright financial future for our customers, associates, and community.

Organizations with outcome-focused programs advancing financial equity and independence through the following will receive top consideration:

  • Financial education and coaching
  • Credit building
  • Workforce development
  • Inventive solutions in the financial wellness space

This initial round of funding is limited to organizations working in specific cities:

  • Chicago, IL
  • Columbus, OH
  • Dallas, TX
  • New York City, NY
  • Philadelphia, PA
  • Salt Lake City, UT
  • Wilmington, DE

Bread & Roses 2023 Racial & Economic Justice Fund and the Future Fund – March 1

Brief Description:

The Racial & Economic Justice Fund is a core fund at Bread & Roses that makes $10,000 grants to grassroots groups in the Philadelphia region that use community organizing and take collective action and fight for racial and economic justice at the local, state, national, or international levels. LEARN MORE.

The Future Fund provides $5,000 grants to groups that are working on emerging issues or developing new approaches to social justice activism or community organizing. These groups may employ one or more effective strategies, such as cultural work, media advocacy, and political education. Groups who have received grants from the Future Fund in the past may reapply. LEARN MORE.

The Philadelphia Foundation offers several grant funding streams – Due March 3

DIRECT SERVICE

Unrestricted grants for well-run, direct-service nonprofits that connect those they serve to multiple resources. Open to nonprofits with budgets under $10 million.

IMPACT

Program grants available to nonprofits demonstrating programmatic impact and leadership in the community. Emphasis on demonstrable success that can be replicated by direct-service organizations.

ADVOCACY

Unrestricted grants for advocacy organizations advancing critical issues to bring about systemic changes. Emphasis on human services, education funding, legal services, immigrant/refugee services.

United Way of Greater Philadelphia & Southern New Jersey: The Partnership Grant Program March 3

Brief Description: 

The Partnership Grant Program is one of United Way’s primary tools for sustaining close ties to the communities we serve and for learning from organizations and leaders in our focus areas: Early Learning, Career Pathways, Financial Empowerment, and Community Resiliency.

Opening on Monday, January 30, the grant application process aims to help United Way identify poverty-fighting organizations that are not only deeply knowledgeable about their fields and communities but have interest in contributing to United Way’s understanding of the issues impacting our communities and working together to generate ideas for informed and collaborative solutions.

The Partnership Grant Program provides unrestricted grants of $50,000 per year for two years. This year, between 80 and 100 organizations will be selected in June 2023 for the FY24-FY25 grant cycle. United Way aims to identify a slate of organizations that are diverse across fields of practice, geographies served, demographics of people served, size and age of organizations, and leadership diversity.

Housing Affordability Breakthrough Challenge – Mar 3

Wells Fargo Foundation, Enterprise invites applications for Housing Affordability Breakthrough Challenge

The Wells Fargo Foundation, with Enterprise Community Partners (Enterprise), has announced the second Housing Affordability Breakthrough Challenge.

Through the program, innovators are invited to apply for grants of up to $3 million and two years of technical assistance to scale solutions to housing challenges in three categories: financing, construction, and access and resident support. The 2023 Housing Affordability Breakthrough Challenge will consider Native, rural, suburban, Tribal, and urban solutions that can transform current practices and processes and lay the groundwork for increased housing affordability, access, and stability.

A variety of entities are eligible to apply, including nonprofits, Tribal organizations, and mission-driven for-profit entities in 38 markets where Wells Fargo and Enterprise can provide additional infrastructure to support implementation and help scale the winning innovations: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Washington D.C., Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

Targeted Investment Community Fund Grant (Info Sessions) March 6 – May1

The Criminal Justice & Public Safety Cluster (CJPS) is hosting an info session for our Targeted Community Investment Grant (TCIG) program.

Established in 2019, TCIG funds community-based violence prevention programs and activities that improve public safety, increase opportunities for self-development and care, and build a stronger sense of community throughout neighborhoods most impacted by gun violence.

The Sarah Ralston Foundation General Operating Support Grants April 1

Brief Description:

The Sarah Ralston Foundation invests in grantees’ missions rather than specific programs. General operating support allows partners to use the funds as they see fit to reach their goals.

Aging organizations know their stakeholders best, know their communities best, and know their needs the most. We respect that knowledge and seek to provide the flexible support that they need to pursue their missions.

The General Operating Support Committee considers requests for general operating support grants typically between $5,000 and $50,000 annually for organizations serving vulnerable and underserved older adults residing in Philadelphia County.
